Another year, another trip to the Lakes. I think I'm addicted to this place. We visited High House Cottages again after an outstanding stay in their perfect accommodation last year in Watermillock, Ullswater.
In terms of weather, this trip summed up England. One day we were snowed in, heavy hail, and also hail reduced our chances of photography but we managed to catch a few gems.
This is my favourite image from our trip, replicating a similar image I took last year from the same point. I took this on our final day which unfortunately was our last day of limited shooting before an 8 hour drive home. The sunlight was behind me but it was fairly windy day indicated by the ripples on the water. I used a light grad filter to balance out the sky slightly.
When it wasn't raining I managed to make the most of the moody skies with the help of some heavy editing. I used my 10 stop ND filter to produce this image. I experimented quite a lot with long exposures and my 10 stop but I found that as it is a fairly cheap filter I was getting a lot of odd colours and blurring in my images.
